Geocache Description:

This is a cache for all sporting people realeased to celebrate the Gold Cup.You will need to answer a few Questions on the Gold Cup to find your Final Co-ordanates.

The first race to be called the Cheltenham Gold Cup was actualy a flat race run in July 1819 on cleeve hill,which overlooks the modern course.The first winner was Spectre and won 100 Guineas for his owner.The Cheltenham Gold Cup was first run over jumps on 12th march 1924 earning his owner a princely £685,this was run on what is now known as the old course.In the early days it was overshadowed by another race called The National Hunt Chase..In the years 1932 to 1936 the race saw its most succesful horse in Golden Miller who also won the Grand National in 1934. The Gold Cup was switched to the new course in 1959 the new star in the sixtys being Arkle who won the race on three consecative years.Prize money has risen to £491,850 in the year 2012. .
