Cruagh Cryptek Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

KowaiBaz: I had hoped to repair stage one and keep this going but unfortunately the Cryptek itself (yes, the final was still there, as in the photo) was badly water damaged and falling apart. There was a lot of water in the container, and even the logbook inside the bag inside the wooden box inside another bag inside the Tupperware was saturated. I’m sorry to say that this is beyond repair so I have removed both stages and will have to removed this one from the game. Thanks to everyone who visited and the logs. A couple of weeks shy of six years hiding isn’t too bad given the nature of this and I knew it would never last forever. Sayonara [;)]

Geocache Description:

CRYPTEK:  from the Greek words kryptos, meaning "hidden or secret" and techne, meaning "art, craft or skill".

At the given co-ordinates you will find a container with information for the next stage. Bring a notebook and pen.

At the final, you will find a container which holds trade items, and, of course, the Cruagh Cryptek. The logbook which you will want to sign is locked inside the cryptek. It is impossible to open without the information you will have gathered along the way.

The Cruagh Geocaching trail
I have placed seven geocaches along this route: 4 Traditional hides, 2 Unknown caches (one to be solved at home, the other to be solved at the location), and an enigmatic and difficult Multi Stage cache. Although the walk can be completed in either direction, I would suggest an anticlockwise approach for geocachers planning to search for all seven hides. Turning right at the fork will, initially, appear to be taking you further away from the caches, (if you watch your GPSr), but the path doubles back before long and your GPS will be happy again.
A 100% successful campaign would ideally see the order of events as:

GC47Q64 Have you got the right tine?
GC47Q6J The hills are alive with the sound of music [Puzzle box]
GC47Q6Y Cruagh Cryptek [Stage I]
GC47Q6Y Cruagh Cryptek [Final]
GC47Q7D I lúib na Ccoille Craobhaí
GC47Q7V Half a Click
GC47Q8B Little Dodder
GC47Q90 The day the music died
GC47Q6J The hills are alive with the sound of music [Final]

Good luck!

The area is managed and maintained by Coillte and the cache is placed in line with the “Leave No Trace” principle.
