This cache is located less than 1 hour North of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario via Hwy 17, Hwy 556 and the Whitman Dam Road.
GZ is approximately 5 km North of Searchmont, Ontario in the scenic Goulais River valley.
Cache consists of a camoed, screw-top, plastic bottle containing log book, pencil and trade items.
Cache-Nic 1 to 9 were established as part of the Sault Ste Marie and Algoma Geocaching Picnic Event in May of 2013.
Please be very careful once you are on the Whitman Dam Road as this is an unpaved industrial road which at times sees many large logging trucks and recreationists passing by. Park well off the travelled portion of the main road.
Wear clothing and footwear suited to uneven terrain, some degree of bushwhacking short distances, and biting / blood sucking insects.
Washroom facilities, gasoline, food and first aid are not available in the vicinity.
GPS coverage is available but we cannot guarantee that all cell phones will be able to connect with your provider for data, text or voice calls in this remote location. Similarly, you may not be able to log your finds and comments in the field. You may have to log your finds when you get back to the city.
