One of the primary tributaries of the Cheat River, Shavers Fork drains some of the highest terrain in West Virginia. This cache is placed along FR 209 which provides access to a particularly scenic stretch of the river north of Cheat Bridge. There are plenty of opportunities to fish or just relax in the river, plus USFS has provided a number of free dispersed camping sites along the road.
Important Visitor Notes
To access this cache, take US 250/WV 92 heading north (west) from the Shavers Fork bridge at Cheat Bridge. Follow FR 209 north for 2.1 miles and park along the road.
Winter: FR 209 is not maintained in the winter. Due to its high elevation, this area can receive much more snow than the lower valleys. If FR 209 is snow-covered, you probably should not attempt this cache.
