APATOSAURUS
It's name means "deceptive lizard". It was formerly called a Brontosaurus, before the scientific community changed it to Apatosaurus. It's brain is about the size of a computer mouse. It is a HERBIVORE, which means it ate plants, not meat. It grazed on ferns and low lying plants. APATOSAURUS lived during the late Jurassic Period, 156 - 145 million years ago. It lived in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, California and Oaklahoma USA.
Height... 15 - 20 feet or 4.6 - 6 meters
Length... 70 - 100 feet or 21 - 30.4 meters
Weight... 18 - 40 tons or 16 -35 metric tons
Tail... the tail alone weighed 3000 pounds or 1370 kilograms
Tail length... 35 - 40 feet or 9 - 13.7 meters

THE TRAIL
This section of the Bruce County Rail Trail is covered in loose gravel and it is level enough for easy walking and bicycle riding. The trail is well used by ATVs.
PARKING
There is enough space to park off road, on the south side of the road just west of the trail gates. Do not block the trail entrance.
