Rhododendrons have been growing at Mugdock for years, but they are spreading throughout the park and taking over. The rangers at Mugdock have done a lot of great work in cutting back and removing the rhoddies, but they need our help !
This will be the last rhoddie-bash of the year (well, hopefully). We Geocachers spend quite a bit of time at Mugdock, so it'd be great to get as many of us as possible up to the park to give a little bit back ! Enjoy a morning of hauling out and cutting back this alien bush to allow the native plants a chance to come back. Active work for all the family. Everyone is welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Meet up with the rangers at the visitor centre (see posted coords) for 10:30am, and we should be finished by lunchtime.
The area we'll be targeting is very wet and muddy, so remember your wellies, and waterproofs... and bring a good pair of heavy gloves - gardening / builders gloves should be fine.
Afterwards, it'll be the perfect time to catch up in the cafe for tea, burgers and a blether, which leaves you with the afternoon free for a spot of caching in the park if you haven't already got them all !
