This super-sized geocache is located on the Rocky Barrens Conservation area. It is placed under MDC permit 13-01 with permission of Area Manager Kevin Hedgpeth. It will be necessary to hike in from the parking coords. You will hike mainly on trails but they are not flip-flop trails. Expect ticks, chiggers, thorns since you are on a conservation area. Conservation areas are closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
I called this place Barren because there is not much there. It seems about as desert like as anything could in the Ozarks. That made finding a place to hide such a large cache a bit more of a challenge. The terrain to get to this one isn't quite as bad as the terrain to get to Cardiao but there is still a bit of a hike. Expect Ticks, Chiggers and thorny things - I saw cactus, locust bushes and blackberries! . Stay mostly on the trails and you won't have to bushwhack too much. Enjoy the great outdoors!
