Geocache Description:

In 2006, the Palmetto Conservation Foundation completed a 1.9 mile rail-to-trail conversion from a former Norfolk Southern railroad corridor. This paved urban trail came to be known as the Mary Black Foundation Rail Trail, or simply "The Rail Trail" to many local residents. The Rail Trail parallels two major roads, connects many neighborhoods to downtown Spartanburg, and is located adjacent to many restaurants, retail businesses and recreational facilities.

To earn her Silver Award in Girl Scouts, AgentGeo has partnered with Palmetto Conservation Foundation, Partners for Active Living and the City of Spartanburg to bring to you the Rail Trail Geotrail (RTGT) consisting of 12 caches along the 1.9 mile stretch of trail. By answering questions about the area around each of the 12 caches and completing the RTGT Passport you will be eligible for your very own RTGT reward token.

Geocache Information:

This cache is just a little bit off the Rail Trail and will take you to what use to be. This area use to be busy with railroad traffic due to businesses that lined what is now known as The Rail Trail. What has remained here serves as a trip to the years past!

You are looking for a small lock-n-lock that has been hidden from view of the typical muggle. Please hunt in geocaching style - wait until the coast is clear before hunting for the cache. Remember to replace the cache as found. Don't forget to answer the RTGT #9 question on your passport.

Additional Info:

The Rail Trail GeoTrail (RTGT) launched November 2, 2013 with 12 caches dotted along the Rail Trail. An award token will given to each person, while supplies last, for locating the caches and answering specific questions. To be eligible for the token, geocachers must answer all 12 questions on the passport, and have their passport validated at either the PAL office or the Spartanburg YMCA. Please refer to the passport for complete validation instructions.
