Cache located at Cartertons's recently revitalised civic precint.
On sunday 17 th March the completetion of Cartertons's revitalised civic precint project was formally recognised through the unveiing of replica gas lights, (circa 1907), in the new Library Square, Carterton. The civic pricint which includes the new state of the art Carterton Event Center, Library and visitor Center, Council buildings, Police station, Plunket, old court house building, St Johns and public toilets comprise the principal buildings making up the precint.
The formal dedication included the internment at the base of the gas lamp, a time capsule the contents of which have been selected to illutsrate a snap shot of past and current Carterton life. The 25 items enclosed in the capsule include photographs from the 1800's to the present, plans of the towns buildings, copies of newspapers, and information on money, food and current events.
