Pelican Cove Pirate Treasure Traditional Cache
adrisan143: Due to the hurricanes last year and my auto accident, I am no longer able to maintain the cache. A beautiful area out here and hope to one day put another back out in this area. But for now, I have to archive it.

In August of 1779 pirates sailed into Pelican Cove for shelter against a tremendous hurricane. Fearful that the ship would sink, they paddled ashore and hid their Treasure Chest on what was then called Hog Island. The storm struck, and all hands were lost when the great ship sunk... But the Treasure Chest remains hidden ... for you to find. They say the ghosts of the pirates still haunt this spot so keep an eye over your shoulder Matey. ==================================================== (Linger a while at the bench and you will see Pelicans, Osprey and many wading birds fishing, Dolphins moving in and out of the Cove, and if you're lucky the Bald Eagle family. It's a very quiet, peaceful, magical spot on Honeymoon Island. The hike to the treasure is about one mile each way, add another half mile to find the other nature trail caches. Water and insect repellent highly recommended in the spring, summer and fall). Congrats ImMushy on FTF!
