This is the seventh in a series of caches to introduce you to this urban forest. Per USACE guidelines the cache is a clear container. It contains a log, but BYOP.

Most local people are familiar with Noonday Creek, if not by name then because they can see it at the SE corner of the Highway 92 - I575 interchange. But Noonday Creek also runs through Towne Lake although you would not realize it as it is, for the most part, 1) well hidden behind the residential developments and 2) somewhat benign - unless it floods as it did several years ago and completely covered part of Towne Lake Parkway. In Towne Lake the flood plain is fairly narrow at the bottom (at Towne Lake Parkway), but widens out rather rapidly as the creek turns north and it may be as much as half a mile or more in places. It empties into lake Allatoona in the marshy area in the same general area where Little River runs into the slough. The early part of the path to this cache may follow along a "cleared" route where the storm drains were placed, but most times it is over undulating terrain. The relative ease or difficulty you experience will be determined by your entry point, but avoid crossing private property in the hopes of finding a more direct route, if one exists. In the winter the ground can be generally wet and muddy, and you should be careful to watch your step as the ground can be very uneven. In the winter the growth is not a big problem, although there are plenty of thorns, brush, and muddy areas to contend with. In the summer, growth will be denser and some bushwhacking may well be required. This is NOT an area to visit after a rain - it IS a flood plain after all - and the terrain is rough enough even when dry. The coordinates are the result of a 500 sample average taken in the winter, but as the canopy becomes denser, you may find getting a good reading more difficult.
This cache is on lands managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Pursuant to the requirements of 36 CFR 327.19 or 327.21, the USACE has been notified of the placement of this cache and the appropriate authority has approved the placement in Permit 13-20.
