Patrick's Pond this is a small riparian area on the Rim. This cache is placed at the beginning of the entrance road. A quick grab off of highway 260.
Known to locals as Patrick's Pond, this small riparian area is a great place for family camping. The pond was protected from a forest fire. I'm not sure of the fire name or date, but as a cub scout in the late 1960s I helped plant the tees that are now growing in the burn. It's been fun watching the trees grow. South of the pond is a stand of pine trees that are very different from your normal ponderosas. This is attributed to mineral deficiencies in the soil. In the 90's someone planted some fish in the pond, and I have caught many frogs there. This cache has room for TBs and should be an easy one for kids. Enjoy your day on the Mogollon!
