The Black Fire happened in the mid 90's. It was started by a young man who was hiking with his Dad from Black Canyon Lake to Highway 260 through the forest. At one point they separated. The young hiker panicked and started a fire to signal his Dad. This signal fire was pushed by winds, traveling upslope the fire traveled quickly.
From the cache site look to the southeast, the green meadows you see are a result of the Black Fire and the Chediski. Several years after the Black Fire the Chediski rolled through the same area. All the dead trees that had died and fallen due to the Black Fire were burnt up when the Chediski burned its way through. It's now a beautiful meadow filled area. Look to the south you’ll see the damage done by the Chediski. Look closely you can see Gentry Tower on the skyline.
Container is a small camo'd thermos, room for small TB if desired. No need to cross the fence. BYOP
Congrats to Smudget for FTF!
