Brea History Cache #1: The Yriarte Ranch Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

1962penny: In April of 2014, I put a notice up on my profile page explaining that I would archive my BHC caches on June 1, 2014. That's today. For those that didn't see the notice, here's the reason for the archiving of these caches. I believe in Quality caches, which incorporate a great (or historical) location, a creative container, or a good puzzle. Although these hides do represent historical locations, the hides are boring and non-creative. I want to be remembered for great hides, not regular ones. I imagine my BHC caches are not fulfilling at all to find, and doubt anyone even remembers most of them after finding them. I feel that the location just doesn't justify the poor-quality hide. Thus, I am archiving them.

Happy caching!

Geocache Description:

The Yriarte family came from the Pyrenees Mountains, located between Spain and France, to New Orleans in 1861. They moved to Brea in 1885 to begin farming in the area. Their ranch was built here at the corner of Elm and Maple streets. Much of the tilled farmland was leased, mainly to sheep ranchers.
Their old barn was later moved to the corner of Ash and Laurel streets, but looks like it has long been demolished.

Cache is Altiods 'Smalls' tin.
Please replace cache in EXACT spot as you found it.
