Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches that visit every SAASL Saturday Premier Division 2013 club's grounds. Games are played most winter Saturdays, between 11.30am & 5pm - either avoid these times, or come along and watch (and use stealth).

The SAASL is the major organizational body for non-professional soccer in South Australia and is the State's largest management body for senior level Amateur Soccer.

In early 1965, eight factory-based teams gathered to kick-off their first season of organized soccer. This was the birth of the "Sunday Industrial League". It changed its name to become the South Australian Amateur Soccer League the following year. New clubs came to join the founding eight clubs, and the fledgling League soon grew to become a major force in South Australian soccer.

The League now conducts a number of competitions for its member clubs to contest. Currently all matches are scheduled for Sundays and Saturday afternoons.

Each cache in the series has the team colours painted on the container and there is a number printed on the inside of each cache container. This number could be useful in solving the final mystery cache of this series. You will find this cache, within viewing distance of the goals.

ADELAIDE COMETS
The Adelaide Comets Soccer Club was formed in 1994 (as the Adelaide Raiders Soccer Club). As Adelaide Raiders, the club won the SAASL Saturday Division 2 Championship in its inaugural year and gained promotion to the SAASL Saturday Division 1 competition. In 1997, they also became Champions in Div 1. In 2001,the club changed its name to Adelaide Comets, to avoid confusion with another federation soccer club, Adelaide Raiders (Formerly Adelaide Croatia Raiders).

The clubs senior team continued to enjoy success in the SAASL winning consecutive Championships in 2001, 2002 and 2003. This ongoing success at the highest level of amateur competition generated the push for a move to a higher league for the Adelaide Comets. They entered the newly formed State League in 2006 under the banner of the Football Federation South Australia (FFSA).

They continue to play their Amateur arm of the club in the SAASL. They won promotion from Division 2 in 2012.
