Geocache Description:

Milestones first started to appear on the Island during the late 1700’s, as granite, limestone, sandstone and slate markers with distances and towns carved in to them. Quite a few are still in existence and legible, some missing and some with just faint markings! In 1798 John Feltham wrote "The roads are good; on the latter [road from Douglas to Castletown] milestones are placed, the only road so adorned" And later, Airey in his notes to the Manx Society reprint of Feltham in 1861 adds "If our milestones can indeed be called adornments, every road of any consequence in the Island is now 'so adorned'”.

The modern newer metal milestones are themselves over 100 hundred years old erected around 1860 and placed on the Douglas to Castletown road, Douglas to Peel road, Peel to Kirk Michael road, Castletown to Ramsey (via Ballacraine), Douglas to Ramsey coast road and Douglas to Ramsey (Mountain Road), although this final set differ in shape and size! Whilst planning and researching this cache I have discovered a couple of these are missing, the cache is placed close to a milestone. which is unique in its own way!

To solve the puzzle and obtain the co-ordinates you need to determine where each milestone should be placed on the map in order A to J, the co-ordinates are:

N54 AB.CDE W004 FG.HIJ.
It will take a bit of geographical knowledge and common sense!
There is an un-activated TB as an FTF prize!
