Ghost House Lane is a curious landmark of Chilwell where there was a supposedly haunted house.
In the late 1800’s, day trippers would come out by train from Nottingham to Attenborough, then walk over to Chilwell to see the place, the interest was so great.
It was the focus of a book written in 1998 by local author Alan Dance. The Chilwell Ghost:
A New Investigation was published in 1998, and revealed how accounts of bizarre goings-on were reported simultaneously by three Nottingham newspapers in 1838. Since then the building harboured many strange stories, relating to the supposed murder of a pedlar there. Sadly the house no longer exists but the lane is still there and to this day some will not venture down it at night.
There is on street parking.
