Geocache Description:

Known locally as Martello towers, these granite defences built in the late 18th century(before Martello was invented!) were built during the Napoleonic Wars.They provided both a look out and shelter for the sentries who were mainly drawn from the local militia.  There are more Napoleonic structures on the steps leading up from the harbour (try Liberation).

The cache is a standard clip box with a notebook, pencil and tradeables
