In the Summer of 2010, a microburst came though the park. A microburst has winds up to 150mph that can knock fully grown trees down. They usually last for a duration of a couple of seconds to several minutes. We lost alot of trees that day, this one included. Once a tree falls here at the park, we leave them and let the "FBI" (fungus, bactcteria & insects) do their jobs. After many years, the trees will decompose back into the ground. ****Don't forget to print up a passport (or pick up one up at the Nature Center). Find all 8 Ranger Rick's in Pilcher Park, stamp the passport, and bring into the NC to get a patch!
