2layZ2: A volunteer reviewer archived two essential clue-bearing caches in the Route 385 Series without notifying us. On 6/24/2026 we were planning a maintenance inspection of the series until I discovered caches #6 and #12 were missing from the cache roster. I finally found both hidden away in the archived cache folder and was really surprised as I read log narratives that reported multiple DNFs and chronic cache inactivity. The Blind Squirrels are conscientious geocachers and would have rapidly addressed the issues had we been notified. Not one of these complaints appeared in our email accounts or on the Geo.com Messages board.
There is zero flexibility once a cache is archived. Our choices were limited to either archiving the remaining interrelated caches because essential coordinate clues had been permanently removed (thus making it impossible to fill in the blanks and solve the Mystery Cache final) or leaving them intact as stand alone caches. Replacing the missing caches without guarantees that this event would not reoccur makes about as much sense as sunscreen at midnight. We’ve elected to leave the remaining caches as stand alone caches that no longer provide clues for a now totally useless final. We are livid!
