Geocache Description:

Green waterproof cylinder. Close to GZ you'll see the big, wooden Tower Hide. It's seen better days and is no longer accessible to visitors – of the human kind, at least. Bats, though, love it and it is its status as a popular bat roost that has meant that the old hide has been saved from demolition.

Bat fact 1: you can hear the sounds that bats make (if you have good hearing), but only their social vocalisations: it is their echo location sounds that are too high for the human ear. Bat fact 2: they can see just as well as you or I (but not in total darkness – that's what the echo location is for) so the saying “blind as a bat” is way off the mark.

The cache is close to, but not in, the hide. Please don't try to enter it. Big thanks to Lindsay and her team from the Wildlife Trust for permission to place this and the other caches here.
