Geocache Description:

The trail is one way to the East from the lot. The loop is about 2 miles with a good trail and some moderate elevation change. It is a great area for a nice hike and of course a few geocaches!

The park is open from Dawn until Sunset. They will close the gate. PLEASE NO NIGHT CACHING! No Dogs area allowed in this preserve either.

This is a Multi Cache in order to find the final you will need to locate a sign and use your observation to put together information for the final. Pay attention the last .25 as you approach the posted coords for evidence of an animal. At the sign it will give you information about different types of animal tracks.

When you arrive at the sign you would have recently made a 90 degree right turn At that turn you passed some clear evidence of one of the animals listed. If you missed it you will want to retrace your steps back about 400 ft to the turn

With the knowledge of the animal leaving its mark here you can use the last three digits for coordinates below to find the final.

If it is a straight line single track use 394 and 022
If it is a diagonal line single track use 440 and 196
If it is a multiple track use 435 and 243
If it is none of these one last place to try is 453 and 182

You never need to go off the trail any more than 70 feet. Please do not go bush wacking! It is not needed.

Langley Covered Bridge is the longest remaining wooden covered bridge in Michigan. Many of the covered bridges in Michigan and other states no longer exist, and therefore the structure is a historic tourist attraction frequented by visitors to St. Joseph County. The bridge is named for Thomas W. Langley and family, pioneers who helped establish the village of Centreville in the mid-19th century. In fact, Langley was the very first settler in Centreville.

The red-paneled bridge, along with a causeway just to its north that forms part of Covered Bridge Road, spans the St. Joseph River. The bridge was constructed in 1887 by nearby Parkville builder Pierce Bodmer. It does this just above what is called the Sturgis Dam. The dam is adjacent to a county recreation area called Covered Bridge Park; just across the river within sight of the bridge is Pahl Point Park, which is in fact closer to the bridge itself. The bridge has been a very important symbol for the village of Centreville for almost 100 years; in fact, the village's annual summer festival is called Covered Bridge Days.
