This park used to be an old Homestead owned by the Kidston family. The area has been a very popular visiting site for Nova Scotians for over 150 years because of the astounding stone perched atop the hill near Kidston Lake. This stone, the Rocking Stone, is an enormous glacial erratic which still sits on the log where it was deposited. Jumping on the log to actually rock the stone provides amusement to people of all ages.
In the recent past a huge sawdust pile used to provide sliding to the lake on tobboggins in the winter.
Enter from the parking lot at Kidston Lake Beach, just off Fieldstone. the network of trails take visitors through mixed woods and patches
of blueberry bushes. The trail is family friendly for pedestrians and mountain bikers with modest skills can enjoy it too. It can be muddy and some short detours may be needed to avoid water, proper footwear is recommended.
