Geocache Description:

Part of a series set out around this lovely English parish.  The walk is just over 3 miles and passes through fields and lanes.  It is suitable for families although there are several stiles - buggies probably not suitable.  Parking in the street near the church.  The route passes through several horse paddocks - the horses ignore you, but please keep the geohounds on a lead through here.

The farm ahead of you is Green Lane Farm, named after the byway you are walking on.  In 1841, John Everard lived here, agricultural labourer, with his wife and son.  Many Everards can be found on the 19th century censuses in the Roxwell and Writtle area, mainly working on the land.  The will of a John Everard of 1801, stated: "  Bequeath unto my son Thomas Everard all and every my household furniture stock and crop of my farm, leave of the farm farming utensils of every kind, Horses, Cows Sheep Hogs, ready money securities for money, Plate Linnen China, and every other thing whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind and sort so ever."
