A Photo Oppertunity Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-DeRock-: Greetings,

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been down for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Thank you,

-DeRock-

A litlle about MBAD African Bead Museum:

Mission Statement

At MBAD African Bead Museum- our mission is to build and organize collections of beads, beadworks, textiles, sculptures and other cultural relics which exemplify the vastness of the African people's material culture. With this focus, the museum is committed to presenting exhibitions, publications, and public programming, as well as serve as a resource center.

About Dabls

Olayami Dabls--esteemed fine-artist, museum curator, and historian, has lectured extensively on African Material Culture to international audiences for over 30 years. As a curator, Dabls is a founding member of the African American Sports Hall of Fame, housed in the Wayne county building. He was also Artist-in-Residence at the Museum of African American History (1973-1982) as well as at the Detroit Psychiatric Institute (1985-1989). Dabls has served as Executive Director for the Rosa Parks Arts Center (1982-1984) as well as produced and hosted a radio program on WNEC4 (1978-1981).

In 1983 Dabls and his wife opened Dabls Perette's Gallery, to great acclaim and the gallery has thus become known all over the African world. He has received numerous awards and has been featured in articles in every Detroit newspaper outlet.

About MBAD Bead Museum

MBAD African Bead Museum, founded in 1985 by S. Jill Miller and Olayami Dabls, was incorporated in the State of Michigan in 1996 by Dabls, Sonja Lockhart, Chris Woodard, Frank Coston, Efe Bes and Larry Mitchell.

In 1998, thanks to the generous heart of Mrs. Ardie Reddick, the now-home of the MBAD Bead Museum was humbly donated-- a 17,500 sq. ft. building for Dabls to house his museum and exquisite artifacts.
