Penguin versus the Volcanic Vent Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Penguin Tracker: I love this park! I grew up playing here with the other penguins. I went for a stroll today between rain drops and the beautiful fall leaves, thinking about what this park means to me.

Upon inspecting the cache site, looking for anything that remains, I was about to replace the missing cache with a new box of treasures to be found.

Then I realized I don’t get to come to this beautiful spot enough. Perhaps I should open this spot up for another CO to come enjoy it as much as I have over the years. It is with a heavy heart, I am going to let this one go.

Geocache Description:

Yes even a penguin bikes, hikes and skateboards to the top of this volcanic vent for the view! It is an easy cache, just a step off the road that is closed to cars. No bushwhacking needed. VERY HIGH muggle activity. Please use your best stealth and camo well! This cache complies with the geocaching policies for Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) properties. Please respect park hours when caching.

Mt. Tabor Park is my most favorite park to go to. Even being a young penguin, I love to hike and bike to the top of it on my own. It is like me versus the volcano to get there. I even enjoy coming here on Wednesday, when the roads are closed and I skateboard down with Papa-Penguin. The views are always incredible as you walk the loop at the top and the wild  life (in such a large city) is amazing!

No bushwhacking is needed, as it is a pretty straight forward cache just a few steps off the road. Many people like to bike or jog the loop here at the top, so you will have to work fast. The difficulty is set higher due to the amount of muggles in the area and please camo well when done! Bring a picnic basket and plan a whole day here at the park if you can, there is so much to do!
