Simon Girty and brother James Girty had a trading post near this island, which is the starting point of this mystery location (hence the name Girty's Island). This trading post served as a base of operations for raiding parties and a meeting place to trade and communicate with the local indian tribes. It also was used as a hideout when Girty's enemies were looking for them. These two renegades were hard to locate in the Ohio Black Swamp wilderness of the late 1700's and the only way to locate this trading post is solve the mystery of "Where Is Simon Girty's Ill-Gotten Booty?". The GPS coordinates for "Finding James Girty's Trading Post" are written on the inside cover of the logbook at the final location of the mystery cache "Where Is Simon Girty's Ill-Gotten Booty?". The total amount of hiking required to solve this series is less than 2 miles of mild grassland during the spring but becomes a terrain 3 during the summer months.
