Level walking to reach close to the cache location through Erme playing fields, then down a steepish section of riverbank to the river side – highly suggest welly boots for a potential bit of wading, especially when you see what awaits next!
Free car parking next to the indoor tennis courts, or on roadside opposite entrance to the recycling centre.
Fourth in an ongoing series to bring out the hidden away or forgotten about nooks and crannies in and around Ivybridge.
The old stone bridge crosses the river Erme as it leaves the boundaries of Ivybridge, onwards in its journey to the not too distant sea via Ermington and the Flete Estate. The road on the bridge is private, first leading to Cleeve Farm and then further on to Cleeve House, a substantial manor house built in 1886 up on the hillside.
Beware, I would advise not to attempt reaching GZ until at least one full day after rain...a) because of needing to traverse what can be a slippery slope down to the river and b) river level may not allow safe passage to the next section...
Cache is a small plastic box, containing a small note pad for entries and a live TB for FTF.
