This cache has been archived.

TheCachingKs: Regrettably, after four separate muggles (presumably by neighbors nearby), I have decided to archive this cache. Many thanks to all who enjoyed this cache.

This cache hide may be familiar to geocachers however the container is indeed unique. Once located, gently tug on the gold ring to release the cache’s contents. Reassemble the cache and replace as found.

In 1979, Atari released Bowling (CX2628) designed by Larry Kaplan. Bowling was based on the traditional sport of 10-pin bowling and consisted of six variations including game play and number of players. This was our family's second Atari 2600 cartridge and we played hundreds of hours on this game!!!

Cool fact: Per Wikipedia,
strikes are easily obtained in this game by positioning the player at the bottom of the screen and then listening to the number of "rolls" of the ball when it is tossed. On the fourth roll if the player pushes the joystick in the relative north or upward direction more-often-than-not the roll results in a strike.

The Atari 2600 is available for the PC. Stella (released for free under GNU Public License and available at http://stella.sourceforge.net/index.php) is one of the more popular (and stable) emulators out there. Atari 2600 games (including this one) are available legally for free from several websites including http://www.atariage.com.

I hope that you have enjoyed this piece of video gaming history and web resources should you decide to relive a memorable portion of your childhood.
