Geocache Description:

We always seem to get beat to placing caches in spots that we think are good.  We are staking our claim on this new area!

Stake a Claim.  Indicate something as one's own, as in I'm staking a claim to the drumstick , or She staked out a claim for herself in the insurance business. This term, dating from the mid-1800s, originally meant "register a claim to land by marking it with stakes." It was being used figuratively by the late 1800s.

There is a new shopping center and apartment complex going in this location.  Construction of the main area is still underway, but we have identified safe locations where there are permanent hosts that will be unaffected by any other construction.  We are “staking our claim” to this area with some geocaches and then in the future when the area is complete we have some plans to make some more creative caches that will fit in with the urbanized terrain.

Parking is available at the secondary waypoint and there are paved roads and sidewalks that will get you to the caches safely.  Do not try to park directly near the caches because you will stick out like a sore thumb.  The area is occupied by muggles a lot of the time, so you may not always be able to stealthily retrieve these caches.  If you cannot retrieve them without being noticed, try coming back at a different time.

Congratulations to Coachtom27, Chipmunx, MBD, and Pyrofrogg for FTF!
