Geocache Description:

This time of year, basketball fans are eager to watch college teams compete in the annual NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Not me--this time of year my eyes are glued to the mountains instead of the television, looking for new trails and places to explore as Winter gives way to Spring. This ridgeline is just one of those places. It turned out to be one of my favorite hikes above Long Bench and North Ogden.

GREEN is just a silly nickname having to do with the color of the Mardi Gras beads placed in the cache. It can be a fun reference also, as you climb the ridge. "How far to GREEN?" you might ask. Not far, as it's the first cache stop on this ridge, about 550 feet higher than the Bonneville Shoreline trail.

The trail to GREEN is an easy start up the ridge, past small sage and oaks, then up a prominent deer trail which goes right to the cache. Continue following deer trails higher up through a small band of sparse scrub oak to the YELLOW cache. You might see large herds of deer lying among the trees as you ascend.  Enjoy!
