Sis & I were out and about caching around the shooting range, drove by this place and thought this would be a good spot for a cache. You're looking for a micro that blends in pretty well. BYOP and happy caching!
This place sparked my interest after placing the cache here. By doing a little research, I've learned that this is the former site of a company that mined high quality kaolin (a type of clay) from this quarry. I guess Ione is famous for it's high quality silica and kailin deposits. Not sure if anything is going on with the place now. The view from the Google Maps perspective is surprising and amazing, considering it's low key entrance. Feel free to add more history if you know it!
