[ITA] Sulle pareti della forra si aprono delle grandi cavità artificiali, ottenute dall'estrazione dell'arenaria, localmente chiamata
"Piera dolza" perché facilmente lavorabile.
L'attività estrattiva risale al 1500, ed ha fornito il materiale per la costruzione di stipiti ed architravi nella zona di Vittorio Veneto e dintorni.
Il metodo impiegato per l'estrazione del materiale è ancora oggi visibile: essendo gli strati inclinati anche oltre i 45 gradi, il materiale veniva staccato in grossi blocchi o in parallelepipedi, lasciando alcune colonne inclinate a sostegno della volta delle cave. Ciò rende gli ambienti molto caratteristici.
La presenza di piccole sorgenti e stillicidi che fuoriescono da fratture sia all'interno che all'esterno delle grotte, unita al notevole contenuto in calcare delle acque, ha determinato nel tempo la formazione di ampie superfici concrezionate, cortine, stalattiti e stalagmiti delle più varie forme e colori.
Data la costanza della temperatura e la progressiva diminuzione della luce all'interno delle grotte, queste ospitano inoltre una serie di microambienti di notevole interesse botanico e zoologico.
In inverno le cascate si ricoprono di ghiaccio, mentre durante l'estate le grotte ospitano suggestivi spettacoli e rappresentazioni teatrali.
[ENG] On the sides of the river gorge large cavities can be seen, the remnants of the extraction of a sandstone, locally called "Piera Dolza" (tender rock) due to its easy workability.

The presence of small springs and water dripping from fractures both inside and outside the caves, combined with the high calcium carbonate
content, resulted in time in the formation of large concretions, stalactites and stalagmites of the most varied shapes and colors.
Given the constancy of the temperature and the gradual decrease of the light inside the caves, these also house a number of microenvironments of considerable botanical and zoological value.
In winter the falls are covered with ice, and during the summer the caves are used for fascinating shows and plays.
