William S. Hart Park and Museum
This former ranch residence of famed silent film star ,William S. Hart,
was given to the county of Los Angeles for the benefit of the public.
The park consists of 265 acres of land which include the barnyard,
free museum tours, hiking trails and a herd of American Bison.
The park is open daily until 5:00 p.m. September to June
and 6:00 p.m. in Summer.
Museum hours are Wednesday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The trail starts near the parking lot and ends up at the American Bison enclosure.

The Ranch House is located in the parking lot area of the park
and very close to this cache. This is a free self guided tour of what was
William Hart’s house before the hilltop home was built.
Try and plan your visit during museum hours. It shows how life
was lived here in Newhall 100 years ago. The Ranch House museum is
self-led and can be done in under 10 minutes. It is open
Wed. - Fri. 10:00-12:30 p.m. and Sat.-Sun. 11:00a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
Also in the parking lot is the gift shop . You can buy cold drinks and
other items there ,but is only open only when the museums are open.
Nearby is the barnyard. ( Open daily 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ).
You can purchase feed at the Gift Shop for the barnyard animals.
There is also a feed vending machine located next to the chicken coop.( $ .25 )
