Geocache Description:

Russ Cottage, on Point Leander Drive, Dongara, is a charming old cottage which was constructed in 1868. The cache is small, magnetic, contains a log and pencil and should be a fairly easy find.

The cottage was built by Titus Russ, a labourer for Edward Hamersley, and is regarded as a fine example of worker housing from the period.
Open 10am-12noon Monday to Saturday
Christmas and New Year Hours: Closed December 25, 26,27 and Jan 1,2, 3
At other times, visitors can walk around the building, take in the gardens and inspect some old machinery.

A point of interest to note is that Robert Russ, the youngest son of Titus who lived his entire life at the cottage, was responsible for planting of the Moreton Bay fig trees in nearby Moreton Terrace Dongara in 1906.
