We continue.....with number 3 of my strolls around Shapwick, for the young at heart cacher....ATTEMPT AT YOUR OWN RISK !
Head on up the footpath from Shapwick Stroll 2 and you are now heading to the outskirts of this picturesque little village. You will be walking towards a small strip of woodland that merges into Loxley Wood situated on Bath Road on the A39. Parking is available in 1 of the nearby laybys or back in the village.
When you have found Shapwick Stroll 2, if not...why not ?!?!, then continue up through the footpath into the field & head towards the style that is in front of you. Most likely to be wet or muddy so you have been warned, wear good boots !.
You are now in a small section of woodland close to Loxley woods. This is where the cache has been placed & is NOT actually in Loxley woods itself. The Loxley woods site is now known for numerous records of rare invertebrates, generally species associated with deadwood. These woods produce a rich flora & also have 2 small ponds on the northern boundary.
The cache container itself is a small screw cap plastic container, camouflaged with enough room for a small swap or 2.
