Geocache Description:

Witches Woods, Beverly Common, Greenwood Ave, Woods Egypt, whatever you call this place, it has some neat history. Before route 128 was put in, Greenwood Ave. connected to Wood Ln. which connected into Beverly's Centerville area.  It came out onto Hull Street adjacent to Bald Hill and Cahill Park.  In the colonial era, these woods were lumbered and then held as public common land for sheep grazing.  This area was also reportedly used as a hiding place by those accused of witchcraft in the 17th century.

If you take the most direct route to this cache, you will encounter some very steep terrain (4 star?).  If that sounds challenging, stay on the main carriage road until you reach the trail junction listed below. This way has a fairly gradual incline, but one rather large downed tree to get over or around. (see photo)  There are some intermediate trails you will pass before you get to the junction, and these are all fair game too. Generally, the hike gets longer, but less steep the farther you go toward the junction.

Dogs are welcome, but they must be on a leash. BYOP
