Geocache Description:

1) In the far distance there is a rider and his horse. In the old times they were used to test the eye sight. Who saw both, was considered good sighted.
A=alphabetic value of middle letter of the horse’s name
B= sum of the alphabetic value of the first and last letter of the rider’s name

2) When did Мир come down?
H is the least significant digit of the year .

3) An ancient philosopher described the perfect year with the following words:

“And so people are all but ignorant of the fact that time really is the wanderings of these bodies, bewilderingly numerous as they are and astonishingly variegated. It is none the less possible, however, to discern that the perfect number of time brings to completion the perfect year at that moment when the relative speeds of all eight periods have been completed together and, measured by the circle of the same that moves uniformly, have achieved their consummation.”

Although scientifically not true, the notion expressed by those words inspired later generations to use the author’s name as the name of a celestial cycle, which is called a year but lasts much longer than anybody’s lifetime. Take the length of the cycle (today’s measurement, not ancient estimates) in years and round it to the next 1000 years. U is the result in 1000 year units (Example: if the result was 41000 years, U would be 41)

4) Wow! said Seti. When?
J = day of the date
K = numeric month of the date

5) For a while our solar system had 9 planets, with the latest addition being accepted in 1930. This latest member was excluded from the planetary club in 2006 after many similar ‘dwarf planets’ were discovered. Nonetheless it remains in our hearts as the small far away neighbour.
When it was discovered, a name was sought and found. The person, whose name proposal was accepted, was rewarded with a certain amount of money.
P is the amount in Pound Sterling.

6) The Falling Vulture has not fallen yet, and the chances are good that it never will.  It was always the most prominent component of a musical instrument. This instrument contains also a fuzzy ring, which can only be seen with a specific device. This ring once received a letter-number combination consisting of the letter ‘M’ and a two digit number.
R is the number.

7) Mr. Bean saw the surveyor and stole his camera. When returning home, he was not jailed, but celebrated instead.  The camera can still be seen.
The surveyor’s number is S

8) Curiosity stamps a message into the dust. Of how many letters does it consist?
T= number of letters of the message

N (U+9) (R-H).B(P+H)
E (J-1) (A+2).SK(S*T)
