History: WWFM – World Wide Flash Mobs – A fun and friendly way to promote geocaching around the world. Thousands of geocachers at dozens of coordinated events spanning the globe, gathering at the same time.
Sonny and Sandy of the Podcacher Podcast came up with the WWFM idea in 2007 after attending a mega-event. It was meant to be a fun “opposite” of a mega-event: all the cool aspects of a geocaching event, crammed into 15 minutes of excitement. An added dimension is represented by the letters "WW" - World Wide - these events occur across the planet on the same day at (mostly) the same time! These caching events are intended to bring geocachers together in a creative way, as well as introduce others (newbies) to the hobby..
Time line: 1:00 PM: Assemble at the coords, Sign Log, and enter drawing. 1:05 PM: Group Photo. 1:10 PM: Door Prize Drawing. 1:15 PM: Disperse.
Event: Come join your fellow cachers for very, very quick meet and greet. Swap stories, numbers and bring those puzzles that are giving you a hard time. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Make sure you log a note saying "Will Attend" so I can have a good head count for the event. The more attendees may mean more prizes to be awarded.
Location: Grassy lawn area adjacent to Kohl's on Norman Dr.
Geocoin: There is a Commemorative Geocoin that has been created just for this event. If there is interest, I will coordinate a bulk order so only one shipping fee is incured. The cost of the coin is $12.50. I have left a message with the manufacturer in hopes of finding out the last day they will be accepting orders of the presale. More info to follow. Please include a note in your "Will Attend" if you would like a coin or tag ordered for you. Please include quantity.
Souvenir: It has been confirmed with Groundspeak that there WILL BE a souvenir for all official WWFM X event attendees.
