Geocache Description:

Rocky Hill

Rocky Hill /

If you challenge this "no maintenance" Floss 5 dirt road it leads you to the south end of the Caston Tract. A great place to start forest hikes once you have discovered this cache as you bump along.

The Tract represents one of Simcoe County's last century initiatives to restore land following clear cut logging by the early settlers. This had resulted in severe soil erosion even to the extent of the landscape reverting to sand dunes and gravel moraine. Today, managed logging provides an ongoing revenue stream for The County so that they may continue ownership and maintenance of these forests for all our enjoyment. The cache container could be defined as a fowl home. The size does not allow for a writing instrument so please bring your own
