These forest tracts represent one of Simcoe County's last century initiatives to restore land following clear cut logging by the early settlers. This had resulted in severe soil errosion even to the extent of the landscape reverting to sand dunes and gravel morain. Today, managed logging provides an ongoing revenue stream for The County so that they may continue ownership and maintenance of these forests for all our enjoyment. The cache container is small.
