A short multi at an important gold era site in Chiltern Mt Pilot National Park.
Magenta Mine was the most important reef-mining site close to Chiltern, operating up to the Depression. You can read all about what happened here in an informative notice board at the entry to the site. There’s a short walk with interpretive sign-boards at various features. Nearly half a tonne of gold was found in the hole in front of you here!
To find the cache;
At the above location ADD the 17 numbers (figures) you find on the MAP on the noticeboard (including the Legend) – look carefully! You should end up with a 5-figure number ABCDE.
GZ is at 36.deg 08.(AB + 89) 146deg 37.(CDE - 65)
GZ is a small polypipe container with logbook, pencil and room for small swaps and is within 300metres.
And thanks to TeamRub for maintaining the original Magenta Gold cache at this site.
