The cache is on the track that was rerouted by the Friends of Wellington Park and Parks and Wildlife Service during early months of 2012. The new track extends for about 800 metres through delightful bushland and avoids a wet plain that was degrading with use. This cache is close to the start of this bit of track and is less than 200 metres from the road. Thark may seem a strange name for an area and some reports suggest that a theatrical play that was on in Hobart at the time inspired the name. It was used as the name of a hut built out there below the ridge and presumably the ridge eventually also was given that name. It seems an alluring name and somehow feels appropriate for the area.
