Mission Verde Park ~ April 20 2013 ~ 10:AM to Noonish. A brisk walk end-to-end through this urban forest area might take twenty minutes. Add a group of geocachers, a half dozen geocaches scattered throughout and a cleanup project and it could well turn into a couple hours worth of fun.
The easy trails and surrounding areas are usually well kept but there are times when it could use a little more attention. Enter, CITO event, "Mission: Keep it Verde". I'll provide the basic trash-out supplies and a little incentive. Mission Verde Park is one of our favorite spots close to home for a quick walk-in-the-woods or a bike ride and for the past year it has become the most concentrated collection of my geocache hides.
The area is family friendly so feel free to bring the kids to find and trade some SWAG. (*A note of caution for kids and dogs. Some off-trail areas have cactus, thorns and thistles.) The facilities are near the tennis courts next to the parking lot at the gathering cords.
*** As an incentive to come out and help "Keep it Verde", I will give away 1- Gx Globe Compass TB as an event end raffle, 1- Travel Heart TB to the participant who really puts their heart in to it by hauling out the most trash. (Both TB's uncirculated). I will also have my well circulated yet seldom discovered mini USA flag geocoin that can be earned by simply being the 10th person to post a log on line after having discovered it. Feel free to bring and add items to the raffle :) Hope to see you there!
