Silver Fern Log Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache is along a track with lots of tree cover so the hint is a bit more helpful than would otherwise be the case.
There is quite a pleasant and relatively easy circuiut walk from Fern tree via the Pipeline Track and Silver Falls then along the Silver Falls track to Fern Glade tracks. It can of course be walked in either direction.
The Silver Falls track is mostly quite wide and runs between the falls and Pillinger Drive. It is understood that the track was originated by a local resident of the time named Reid who marked it out and began clearing from Pillinger Drive in the direction of Fern Tree in November 1928. It is shown on maps produced by the Hobart Walking Club in 1931 & 1942. The section between Silver Falls and Fern Glade is mostly gentle and is shaded by the forest of trees both large and small. You will notice that there is a quite a significant number of quite large trees that have fallen down and lying beside this track. The ones near this cache are usually quite mossy,
This cache is close to the walking track so please take care in replacing it as found.
