In the Still of the Night Cache Letterbox Hybrid
J&LA: We were already becoming weary of the constant maintenence requirements of this cache's 4 question stages & disappearing reflectors when we discovered that kids were repeatedly burying our cache in it's wooden hidey hole by covering it with dirt & sticks, then using utility flags to make "time cap" signs marking it as a time capsule. Although this is incredibly funny, highly adorable & makes us thrilled it's been cared for so well, it's also against the rules to bury a cache. A similar hide will be taking its slot.

This is a night cache. You will use your flashlight to illuminate reflectors that will guide you along the way. There is a twist: at several points along the trail, you will retrieve & answer questions about what you see. Note: the D/T rating on this cache assumes you have completed all 4 question stages before you sign the final. Please try harder to do this, friends!!! For instructions, read the full description before you go.
The stamp is NOT a trade item, so please leave it in the cache!!!! This cache is NOT recommended during daylight because the trail markers would be difficult to find. You will need a good flashlight, a very long TOTT & walking shoes. You are encouraged to bring a teammate to hold the light while you wield your TOTT & for overall safety reasons.
The coordinates take you to the trailhead. There is no bushwacking required; you will wander only a little way off the trail at times. Unless you want to walk off a sheer cliff, please obey all posted signs. Once you get onto the trail, carefully scan the trees & signs to your right to find the reflectors in your normal field of vision.
White markers mean to continue walking; red means to stop & look for a camo'd pill bottle somewhere above your head. Please use your TOTT only. Inside is a question to answer about a point of interest along the way. There are 4 stages & some questions cannot be answered until much further down the trail.
The final area is marked by a red & white striped reflector; the cache is within 10 feet of that marker. If you see 2 red reflectors on the same tree, you have gone a bit too far. Enjoying the quest is what this cache is all about, so to validate the high D rating, please try to answer ALL the questions before signing the physical log (it is on your honor). Please replace the container lid-up.
The D rating is for navigating, searching & retrieving stages in the dark. The T rating is for the fairly long distance you must travel & for the somewhat precarious placement of the final.
Several of the neighborhood watch members know this cache is here, but other homeowners may be wary of those they don't know in the area. Please be courteous & remember to be as stealthy as possible at the final.
