Geocache Description:

This is a challenge cache.  It is located at the posted coordinates but there is an additional requirement that you must meet before claiming a find. The terrain rating refers to the travel you must do to meet the challenge. The cache is a 1.5 or possibly a 1.

The number of geocaches in the world is growing exponentially and as it does that, the density of caches is also increasing.  Expressed differently, the typical distance between caches is shrinking.  Still, there are several dozen caches within Manitoba that are at least 6 kilometres from the nearest other cache.

Your challenge is to log a find at a minimum of 6 caches that are each at least 6 km from the nearest cache.  Among the eligible caches are several of the older caches in the province.  Most of the qualifying caches are roadside and require no hiking, though some may require extensive driving on unpaved roads.  Most of the locations are beautiful gems of Manitoba real estate.

There is an easy way to see if a cache qualifies.  From the cache page of a find you think might qualify, click on "View Larger Map" and zoom out until you can see the next closest cache.  Use a ruler and the scale guide at the lower left or lower right corner of the screen to measure.  For example, on my computer, when the scale guide shows 2 km, a distance of 6 km is represented by 6 cm on the computer screen.

1.  You must list 6 sparsely located cache finds.

2.  These caches must all be in Manitoba.

3.  All of the caches must be published before April 1, 2013.

4.  Each cache must be at least 6 km from the nearest cache at the time you log a find for the challenge cache.

5.  Distance is measured in a straight line (as the crow flies) regardless of where the road goes.

6.  In your log list the GC code and name for each of your 6 qualifying caches.

7.  If you don't yet qualify, you may still hunt down the cache and sign the log sheet.  On line make your log a "Write note" instead of a "Found it."  After you have found the necessary 6 caches, you may add your "Found it" for this cache without revisiting GZ.
