The Gary L Haller trail runs from central Olathe all the way to the Kansas River at Nelson Island. This cache is hidden on the island, near the final resting ground of Mill Creek. The island is quite a place, with an interesting terrain. Numerous trees have come to an end here. There seem to be as many fallen or dead trees as there are live ones.
When the cache was hidden, the poison ivy was nowhere to be found, but I have to imagine it's quite abundant from late spring to early fall. Despite being very early spring and only a week after a large snowfall, we did run into ticks. So, beware! Based on the terrain, I have to imagine other critters, such as snakes, lurk nearby in the warm months.
