Eight Men Out Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

James Bridger: MISCELLANEOUS RANT:

I boast that I own nearly a thousand geocache hides. Come to find out, it's been the other way around this whole time.

Someone painted April Fool in big black letters on a Dead End sign.

Would you rather get one shot in the head or five in the chest and bleed to death?

Held his heart in his hands, and ate of it.

You pay as you go. Sometimes all you have.

I'm going outside now. I may be gone for some time.

I am shutting down the machine. A container will remain at the following location for a while yet, until I retrieve it, so you may find it normally. If you wish, you may take the container. If you do so, please indicate such in your log. Likewise, as I recover the container, I will post that I have removed the container.

Thank you to all who "Veni. Vidi. Vici."

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!

Instead, this is a letterbox cache. The posted coordinates are a good starting place, or if you wish to treat this as a regular letterbox cache, follow the directions below:

Welcome to Bassett

Find the sign above at the east edge of Bassett. It is on the north side of Highway 20. From this sign drive east for 3.8 miles until you pass mile-marker #263. You will be at the starting point.

To the east you will see where eight power poles have been placed along the north side of the highway. Each of them has a different number on it, and you need to go east until you find the pole that will answer this question:

How many counties are there in Nebraska?

Within 10 feet of the pole with the correct answer there will be a clue that will let you continue your quest. There is one more clue and the final, each of which will be within 10 feet of the suggested location. In the final cache there is a stamp, but no ink pad. Feel free to use the stamp, but leave it in the cache. You will need a buddy or a TOTT to finish this cache.

There is not sanctioned parking, but there will be room to pull over enough to be out of the way, so practice good highway etiquette. You will not have to cross any fences to find the two clues or the final. Please respect the area, use stealth if warranted, CITO if needed, replace the cache as you find it, and please post no hints or spoilers. Thank you and good luck.
