Geocache Description:

Argh, this cache is too hard to find. Coordinates will take you within 100 yards of the cache, a good place to park. Final coordinates are accurate within 20 feet--just the way it should be. GPS signal is sparse between the buildings. Genuinely 1.0 terrain, easily accessible for all.

There used to be a cache near here worth $100,000. Alas, inflation is a conundrum!

Zimbabwe is a country which experienced hyperinflation of its currency towards the end of the last decade. From 2004 to 2009, the Zimbabwean dollar saw inflation of over 400 BILLION PERCENT! Under the direction of the Bank Governor, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe printed and issued currency in ludicrous denominations such as 1 Billion, 100 Billion, 1 Trillion, and even 100 Trillion dollars! You can click on the image above to see a fullsize image of an actual 1,000,000,000 Zimbabwean dollar--once upon a time the Geico Gecko brought one to the old cache that was here. The Zimbabwean dollar was devalued three times between 2004 and 2009, and eventually abanoned all together. These notes are now a collectable novelty and a lesson on poor fiscal policy at a nation-state level.

Now for the riddles, you knew they were coming right?

The Zimbabwean dollars in huge denominations (above Z$100,000) are all signed by the same gentleman, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. He was appointed in 2003. This is the same gentleman who is widely considered the reason for the Zimbabwean dollar's devaluation and inflation. You need to find out who this guy is--more specifically, you need to find the day and year his birth (month not important):

To get the Latitude, take the starting coordinate W 112° 27.075 and add the Governor's birthday to the decimal degrees directly including the leading decimals, i.e.: if he was born on the 12th of the month, you'd add 27.075 + .012 for a final coordinate of W112° 27.087. Remember, the final cache is within 100 yards of the first waypoint, so don't go adding to the first part of the coordinate and ending up across town.

To get the Longitude, take the starting coordinate of N 42° 51.831, subtract the same number you used for the Latitude and then add the final digit of the year the Governor was born, and don't forget the leading decimals! Example: if he was born on the 12th, and in 1944, you'd take 51.831 and subtract .012 then add .004 for a final coordinate of N42° 51.823.

Now that you have the final coordinates, go find it. Its hard, perhaps too hard. Final coordinates are accurate to within 20 feet, GPS is lousy between the buildings though. Good luck, cache on!
